If you haven't heard of the website "Morguefile" it is an excellent resource for free photos (no copyright). Great for reference photos and ideas. That's where I got this little guy. Anyone know what he is?
What a wonderful spot this is in Maine. At low tide the beach yields many large sun-warmed wading pools. I loved the reflection of the lifeguard chair in this one. This painting was done with a knife only, using the medium Neo Megilp for the first time. Great stuff!
Since I was committing to a large canvas I knew I needed to do a small study to determine composition and color choices. I had to simplify a fairly busy harbor full of boats down to what I thought was a nice minimum. I knew the seaweed area in the foreground would be difficult as it was extremely busy with various rocks and multi-colored seaweed.
